June Melby: Tell Your Story-A Writing Workshop

Date(s): 8/5/2014

6:30pm

Woodson History Center, 410 McIndoe Street, Wausau
The Marathon County Historical Society is proud to welcome author June Melby to the Woodson History Center on Tuesday, August 5 at 6:30 pm for a writing workshop. Everyone has stories to share, and Melby will help you get started writing yours at her presentation Tell Your Story: A Writing Workshop.

Melby will help you take the stories and anecdotes from your life and weave them into stories with logical narration. Participants should bring along a pen and notebook as Melby will help everyone begin recording their memories.

The importance of writing stories and preserving them for future generations is highlighted in the Marathon County Historical Society’s award winning exhibit Our Stories: The History of Marathon County. This exhibit goes beyond the objects and dates of the county’s history to the stories of the people who have brought the county to life. The collection of oral and written histories is a priority in the mission of the historical society.

June Melby is a writer and performer whose writings have appeared in the LA Weekly, National Lampoon Magazine, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, and other national and international publications. Her latest book, My Family and Other Hazards, looks at the humorous, sad, and thought-provoking stories of her family and their mini-golf course in Waupaca County. See her website at http://www.junemelby.com for more information.

This workshop is free to attend and no registration is required, however donations are appreciated. For more information call 715-842-5750, or visit us online at http://www.marathoncountyhistory.org or on Facebook at Marathon County History.
