Final Day of Wisconsin State Fair

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin State Fair is in its final weekend.

The fair had its rocky moments this year with violent attacks on opening night that lead to several arrests and the tasing of a security guard. The communications director received a racist and threatening e-mail, and for the second year in a row the sky glider ride got stuck.

But despite all those things fair attendance is up.

Official attendance numbers won't be available until after the fair closes Sunday night. But fair spokeswoman Patrice Harris says numbers have been running ahead of last year.

Officials say more people than ever are coming through the gates and some vendors are reporting all-time highs in sales.
