(Press Release) Join the Y Golden Adventurers on Tuesday, May 17 from 1:00-3:00PM for a guided hike of the Holmboe Conifer Forest in Rhinelander.
Naturalist Bob Dall will provide information on this special forest located in Rhinelander. Though small, Holmboe is a remnant of the forests that covered northern Wisconsin prior to the advent of the
logging industry. In this 32-acre forest you can see an outstanding example of a maturestand of hemlocks, pines and white cedar trees that provides a home to many woodland wildflowers and songbirds.
The Holmbo Trail is located on Business 17 (Boyce Dr) behind
the Taylor Park Health Care and Rehabilitation Center (903 Boyce Dr). Pull in thedriveway along the right side of the building to the back parking lot.
You will be met in the parking lot at 1PM. Dress for this outdoor adventure in appropriate clothing and shoes. The hike will be leisurely with gentle hills. Please bring a snack to share for a get
together following the hike.
The Y Golden Adventures meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month and anyone in the community is welcome to join the group.
The yearly membership fee is $15 or a $5 fee per adventure. For more information or to register for this event call the YMCA at 715-362-9622
