This week, kids and their parents are doing what they can to stay cool.
"We're just beating the heat in the pool, just having fun spending time with my family cuz they don't live around here," says Eric Miller, visiting the Weston Aquatic Center.
And moms say the pool is a great place to go to keep children safe during a heat wave.
"They don't deal with the heat my kids they get really red in the face they have a hard time so its either sitting indoors in the air or being here," says Andrea Esker.
And just down the road at the Greenheck Fieldhouse, kids are keeping cool in a very different way.
The Wausau West hockey team is putting on a week long hockey training camp for kids aged 6 to 13. Many of the young athletes say they play lots of different sports. but this week hockey is their favorite choice. And moms agree.
"Can't get anything done outside so getting them on the ice at least gets them out of the heat," says Kim DeByle, from Rib Mountain.
So if it's on ice or in water, kids are sure to have fun while escaping the heat.
