(Press Release) The 7th Annual Family Fishing Fun Day will be held in conjunction with the Wisconsin DNR Free Fishing Weekend on June 4. Every year, the first consecutive Saturday and Sunday in June are designated as Free Fishing Weekend, when you can fish without a license throughout the state of Wisconsin.
Family Fishing Fun Day will be held in Rhinelander at the Hodag Park boat landing and pavilion. It is being organized by the UW-Extension 4-H Youth Development Department who is partnering with area businesses and individuals.
The line-up for this event will include 15-20 learning stations where young people and family members can learn more about fishing and the aquatic environment. Some topics include:
· knot tying
· fishing with live baits
· fishing with artificial baits
· basics of casting
· basics of fishing
· water and bating safety
· aquatic invasive species
· free fishing on the pier
· fly tying
· fly casting
· trout fishing
· several equipment dealers
· community demonstrations
· AND MUCH, MUCH, More!
The first 200 youth who register and participate will receive a free bag with an assortment of “goodies”. Youth who participate in all of the stations will also be eligible for some free drawings - courteous of area businesses and community.
This event is made possible by many local, state, and national organizations and businesses that put forth the extra effort.
