Mike Breunling has been the Chief Meteorologist at WSAW since 1997. He received an M.S. in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. An active member in the American Meteorological Society, Mike earned the A.M.S. Television Seal of Approval in 1999, and has been a certified National Weather Service Storm Spotter and a Cooperative Weather Observer for many years. Prior to his career in meteorology, Mike practiced Landscape Design in central Ohio, after earning a B.S. in Horticulture from Michigan State University. Mike's main public outreach for the station is in educating the children in the community. Over the years he has made well over a hundred visits to schools across the area. For several years he was the Meteorological consultant for Dream Flight Wausau. Adult group presentations are also scheduled as often as possible. Mike and his wife enjoy traveling, and have hosted many trips over the years with Holiday Vacations, including destinations overseas. In his spare time Mike enjoys fishing, sports, the performing arts, and trying to keep up with the never ending outdoor chores around his home built on the site of a former Christmas tree farm. A lifelong musician, Mike currently engages his drumming skills in the contemporary Christian band at his church.
