Mikel Lauber joined WSAW-TV in 2007, and became News Director in 2011. He previously was the Anchor for NewsChannel 7 at 5pm and 6pm.

During his time at WSAW-TV, Mikel has been recognized for his reporting by some of the most prestigious news organizations. In 2008, Mikel won the Edward R. Murrow award for investigative reporting for his ‘Secrets in Shawano’ investigation. That same investigation earned a 2008 Emmy nomination. He also received a 2009 Emmy nomination for investigative reporting for his investigation into a failed search for a missing woman in Price County. He also was nominated for an Emmy in 2009 for his hard news reporting using advanced media.

Lauber has won Associated Press Awards for his spot news reporting, and twice for enterprise and series reporting. His investigative and convergence media coverage have been awarded first place honors by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association three times. He also received first place honors from the WBA for his spot news reporting, and received the 2010 Golden Gavel Award for reporting on the legal system.

Mikel appeared on the CBS Evening News in a report he worked on with CBS News Chief Investigative Correspondent Armen Keteyian in New York. He has also worked with Dave Savini of WBBM, CBS 2 in Chicago on an investigative report.

In 2008, Mikel interviewed Barack Obama during his Presidential Campaign. He has been involved in community events ranging from fundraising campaigns to speaking for classes and organizations.

Mikel and his wife, Pam came to Wausau from the Fox Valley. Mikel graduated from Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota. While there, he anchored a campus talk show and produced and anchored a pregame show for Minnesota State Hockey. While in college, he interned at WFRV-TV in Green Bay.

Mikel is an avid Packer fan, an indie music connoisseur, and the newsroom 'techie'.

Mikel grew up in Fond du Lac. He and his wife, Pam have two daughters, Natali and Nora.
