Mikel Lauber joined WSAW-TV in 2007, and reports and anchors NewsChannel 7 at 5, 6, and 10.

He and his wife, Pam came to Wausau from the Fox Valley. Mikel graduated from Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota. While there, he anchored a campus talk show and produced and anchored a pregame show for Minnesota State Hockey. While in college, he interned at WFRV-TV in Green Bay.

During his time at WSAW-TV, Lauber has been recognized for his reporting by some of the most prestigious news organizations. In 2008, Lauber won the Edward R. Murrow award for investigative reporting for his ‘Secrets in Shawano’ investigation. That same investigation earned a 2008 Emmy nomination.

Lauber has won Associated Press Awards for his spot news, enterprise, and series reporting. His investigative, spot news, and convergence media reporting have also been awarded first place honors by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association.

Lauber appeared on the CBS Evening News in a report he worked on with CBS News Chief Investigative Correspondent Armen Keteyian in New York. He has also worked with Dave Savini of WBBM, CBS 2 in Chicago on an investigative report.

In 2008, Lauber interviewed Barack Obama during his Presidential Campaign. He has been involved in community events ranging from fundraising campaigns to speaking for classes and organizations.

Lauber grew up in Fond du Lac. He and his wife, Pam have a daughter, Natali.
