Hannah Anderson joined the WSAW-TV news team as a multimedia reporter in June 2013 and is delighted to be a part of the Wausau community.

You can watch Hannah every weekday morning on Sunrise 7 as she co-anchors with Sean Caldwell starting at 4:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.

A Roseau, Minn. native, Hannah graduated from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn. with a major in multimedia communication and journalism, and a minor in business.

While at St. Thomas, Hannah spent most of her time in newsrooms.
She interned at WCCO-TV, the CBS affiliate in Minneapolis, KSTP-TV, the ABC affiliate in St. Paul, The World Press Institute, worked for St. Thomas’ professional videographer all while working her way up the ladder quickly for five semesters at TommieMedia.com, St. Thomas’ multimedia news source.

At WCCO-TV, she was a news reporting intern and at KSTP-TV, she was a digital news intern who had a hand in covering and breaking national issues and events like the Boston Marathon Bombings, 2012 Presidential Election and the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting.
While interning at top-15 market newsrooms, Hannah worked as a reporter, chief video editor, chief studio producer, executive assignment editor, executive production editor and news director at TommieMedia.

In her final semester as news director, she led her staff in breaking the all-time visitor hit record for TommieMedia, breaking and covering the story of the university’s first female president in history, the new pope and the 2012 presidential election.

Under Hannah’s leadership, TommieMedia was awarded “Best Collegiate Website” for the Minnesota Newspaper Association awards and an Eric Sevareid Award from the Northwest Broadcast News Association in 2013 for "Best Collegiate Website."

She also was nominated for two NATAS-Upper Midwest Regional Student Production awards and earned a Society of Professional Journalist Award for her online in-depth reporting on the university’s $500 million Opening Doors Campaign, which was the largest campaign in the Midwest for private schools and school history.

Hannah is a news junkie who enjoys medical stories, but she thinks the best stories come right from the people, because those are the stories that can resonate with each person the most.

If you have a story idea, or an interview opportunity, she’d love to hear it. Email her at Hannah.anderson@wsaw.com or message her on her Facebook page: Hannah Anderson WSAW.

"Information helps people live their lives better. I believe as journalists, if we can get it right every time, that can make the quality of life improve for everyone every day."
