Susan Ramsett Bio Save Email Print
Name: Susan Ramsett
Title: Anchor
Broadcast Times: NewsChannel 7 at 5 and 6
Email Address: sramsett@wsaw.com

A La Crosse native, Susan joined the NewsChannel Seven Team in September of 2001. She met her husband, Chris, shortly after moving to the Wausau Area. In August of 2005 they welcomed their first child into the world. Susan says her son, Arthur James, is the light of her life. "I love being a Mommy!" She says. "He amazes us every day."

Susan spent her college years at UW-La Crosse studying two of her favorite things, Music and Communications. While attending college, she also worked part-time in radio news, and as a choreographer for the La Crosse Catbirds, part of the Continental Basketball Association.

"I also taught a lot of dance classes, worked for a music store in the mall, and was a singing Christmas tree during the holidays!" she adds. "Whatever it took to cover rent and tuition."

Susan credits the Wisconsin 4-H program with much of her early speaking and leadership experience.

Susan's first full-time TV job was at WKBT-TV in La Crosse. She also worked for WLAX/WEUX-TV in La Crosse/Eau Claire. She is glad to be back in television news after working two years for a Medical Foundation.

"It was a great experience. It really fueled my interest in Medicine and Clinical Research. But, my heart is in the newsroom."

Susan continues her interest in the Medical field by bringing you a report called "What's Going Around," featuring weekly reports from area medical professionals. She is also the spokesperson for Buddy Check 7, a program designed to help fight breast cancer through early detection. In addition to her work at the station, Susan is a guest columnist for the Wausau Daily Herald and writes a monthly feature on women's health and wellness for SCOPE, which appears in Gannett's Central Wisconsin Newspapers.

Another of her favorite assignments is sharing "Our Friends" from the Marathon and Lincoln County Humane Societies. Sue has a sincere affection for animals. She and her husband, Chris, adopted their Golden Retriever from the shelter in Merrill. They named her "Buttercup" after a character in one of their favorite movies, the Princess Bride. They also share their home with a one-eared cat named Vincent Van Gogh.

In her spare time, Susan likes to travel, read biographies, and take in as much theater as she can. She has been involved on and off stage as a performer, director, and choreographer (she started ballet classes at the age of three, and continued to study dance through her college years.) Susan also tours occasionally with Women's Comedy Troupes, "Black White and Red All Over" and "Girls' Night Out."

"Laughter is a powerful thing, especially when it's shared with a room filled with women! It clears my head and helps me put my life back into perspective."
