Snow Helps Tourism in Minocqua

Little snow has meant a slow start to the Winter tourism season. However, that's picking up.

People travel to the Northwoods during Winter, just for the snow.

Skiing, Snowmobiling and other outdoor Winter sports are big in the area.

Compared to the holiday season last year, a Chamber of Commerce member said more people are making a trip to Minocqua.

"Actually we're up a little bit. A lot of times when people come up to do activites and they're not able to do them, they find alternatives and shopping is one of them," said Woody Woodruff.

Woodruff said, it's unfortunate that they are not able to offer all of the outdoor activities. However, some of the snowmobile and ski trails in the area are open.

The Onieda County snowmobile trails open Friday at noon.
