Tyler Meyer caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Koerner on a double-reverse fleaflicker and Michael Knetter kicked in the winning extra point as Colby beat Lancaster 44-43 in overtime to win the WIAA Division 5 championship on Thursday.
Zach Peissig rushed for 126 yards for Colby (14-0), which bounced back from a runner-up finish a season ago to claim the Hornets' third state championship on their first overtime play.
After winning two playoff games by a combined four points, Lancaster (13-1) was in position to win another nail-biter when Trae Mezera scored on a 25-yard run on the first possession of overtime, but the ensuing extra point was blocked to set up the Colby win.
It was the first overtime game in the history of Division 5 and the first for any division since 2006.
