The Amherst Falcons beat the defending Division 5 state champs, Colby, 34-6 in Level 4 of the playoffs to advance to the state championship for the first time in school history.

The Falcons scored all 34 points in the first half behind the efforts of quarterback Chris Zblewski. But midway thru the 2nd quarter, Zblewski suffered an ankle injury and did not return to the game. He watched the rest of the game from the sideline on crutches.

The hope is he'll be ready for the state title game next Thursday against the winner of Saturday's Lancaster-Brillion game.
