MINNEAPOLIS - D3hockey.com released its preseason rankings Thursday afternoon and the UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team is receiving votes.
The Pointers received 24 points in the first poll of the new season.
Several Northern Collegiate Hockey Association teams find themselves in the top-15 coming into the season, including returning national champion, St. Norbert who will begin the season as the top-ranked squad in the nation, receiving 18 of the 20 first place votes.
St. Scholastica begins the year at No. 12, while UW-River Falls is No. 14.
The Pointers open up their season on Tuesday, October 23 when they entertain Lake Forest College in a non-conference contest at K.B. Willett Arena. Faceoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
