STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Six members of the UW-Stevens Point football team earned All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) awards for the 2012 season, the league announced today.
Wide receiver Theo Maglio (Wautoma, WI/Wautoma) was named to the WIAC First Team offense after leading the conference with 1,059 receiving yards and placing third with 66 receptions. Maglio had five 100-plus yard receiving games, including a career-high 201 yards against UW-Eau Claire on Sept. 29.
Andy Coenen (Seymour, WI/Seymour) was named to the WIAC Second Team offense for his efforts on the offensive line.
Punter Brandan Matznick earned an honorable mention by averaging 37 yards per punt.
Colton Zimmerman (Iola, WI/Iola-Scandinavia) also earned an honorable mention for his efforts in returning punts. Zimmerman finished second in the WIAC with 8.9 yards per return.
Zimmerman was also named to the WIAC Second Team defense as a defensive back. He finished the season fifth in the WIAC with four interceptions, including an 84-yard return for a touchdown against UW-Platteville in the final game of the season.
Jon Pahl (Darboy, WI/Kimberly) earned honorable mention for his efforts on the defensive line and defensive back Skylar Stecker (Hilbert, WI/Hilbert) was awarded WIAC Sportsmanship honors.
The Pointers finished the 2012 season 2-8, 1-6 in the WIAC.
