SPASH lost a heartbreaker to defending D1 state champion Sun Prairie, 5-4 in 8 innings.
Sun Prairie started the scoring in the top of the first. The Panthers responded with back-to-back RBI singles by Sterling King and Andrew Ruzek for a 2-1 lead after the fist.
The Cardinals then scored two runs in the 3rd, another in 5th for a 4-2 lead and set up a dramatic finish. Down to their last at-bat, King delivered a bases-loaded single up the middle to tie the game 4 and send it to extra innings.
In the 8th, Conner Funnell doubled down the left field line to score the go-ahead run for a 5-4 lead. The Panthers went down in order in their half of the 8th.
