Pointers shut down Yellowjackets

Gietman scored the Pointers lone goal of the first half in the 11th minute, giving the Pointers the early advantage.

The Pointers offense controlled the tempo in the second half, as the Dietrich scored just two minutes into the second stanza and Meylor added her first just over a minute later to give UWSP the 3-0 edge.

Meylor added her second goal of the game in the 59th minute to give the Pointers the 4-0 advantage.

The UWSP defense gave up just one shot on net for the game, but Kristen Churkey (Mosinee, WI/D.C. Everest) recorded the save to preserve the shutout victory.

UW-Stevens Point (4-7-2, 2-3-0 WIAC) returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 16 with a nonconference match-up against Carthage College in Kenosha, scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. start.
