The Pointers will take on Linfield College, which is also undefeated in this World Series, Sunday, May 26 at 7 p.m.
Just one day after overcoming a 5-0 deficit in the eighth inning to beat Manchester University 6-5, the Pointers found themselves trailing Kean 3-1 in the eighth inning.
Casey Barnes (Mequon, WI/Homestead) led off the top of the eighth inning with an infield single, but was thrown out at second when Riley Spetz (Sevastopol, WI/Sevastopol) reached on a fielder's choice. Spetz advanced to second on a wild pitch and moved to third base when Bobby Gregorich (Plover, WI/SPASH) singled.
Bryton Guckenberg (Trego, MT/Lincoln County), who hit a walk-off home run against Manchester Friday night, reached on a throwing error by the Cougars' pitcher, which allowed Spetz to score and brought the Pointers to within a run, 3-2.
Both Gregorich and Guckenberg advanced one base on a wild pitch, and Dan Douglas (East Troy, WI/East Troy) smacked a single up the middle to bring both runners to the plate and give UWSP a 4-3 lead.
Luke Watson (Appleton, WI/Xavier) earned the win by throwing two innings out of the bullpen in relief of starting pitcher JP Feyereisen (River Falls, WI/River Falls).
Douglas entered the game with 243 career hits in a Pointers uniform, tied with Jake Frombach for the most in program history. The UWSP starting shortstop broke Frombach's six-year old record with a bunt single to lead off the third inning.
