The Pointers took a 1-0 lead 2:18 into the game as Henegar scored on the power play after an elbowing call on Superior gave the Pointers the man advantage.

Superior evened the score at 1-1 midway through the second period, recording a power play goal at 12:06.

UWSP responded just two minutes later when, coming off a 'Jacket power play, Freismuth tallied an even strength goal, putting the Pointers back on top, 2-1.

In the third, Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, MN/Champlin Park) and the Pointers defense turned away each Superior scoring opportunity to hold on for the one-goal victory.

Jaeger stopped 13 saves on the night while his counterpart Drew Strandberg tallied 15.

UW-Stevens Point (13-8-1, 7-7-1 NCHA) now stands alone in third place in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association standings.

The Pointers return to the ice on Saturday, Feb. 2 when they host St. Scholastica in a 7 p.m. game at Willett. The game will be the annual Putting a Check to Cancer Night. UWSP will wear special pink jerseys that will be auctioned off. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will also receive a free pink rally towel.
