The Titans (23-13) grabbed a 4-0 lead in the first inning when Michael Swift hit an RBI single and Bobby Kachel followed with a three-run home run off of UWSP (33-8) starting pitcher JP Feyereisen (River Falls, WI/River Falls).
Oshkosh added one more run in the top of the fourth inning to increase its lead to 5-0, but the Pointers stormed back for three runs in the bottom of the frame.
Ryan Schilter (West Bend, WI/West) led off the inning with a single and put himself in scoring position with his 20th stolen base of the season. Sean Gerber (Stoughton, WI/Stoughton) plated Schilter with an RBI double, and Gerber came around to score on a single by Jimmy Coady (La Crosse, WI/Aquinas), who advanced to second on the throw to home.
Coady made his way to third on a groundout, and Casey Barnes (Mequon, WI/Homestead) knocked him in with a single, bringing the Pointers to within 5-3.
Swift's solo home run in the fifth inning gave the Titans a 6-3 advantage, but UWSP rallied for six runs in the sixth inning to claim a 9-6 lead and never looked back.
Riley Spetz (Sevastopol, WI/Sevastopol) ignited the sixth-inning rally with a leadoff single and Bobby Gregorich (Plover, WI/SPASH) followed with a two-run home run, his second of the season.
Barnes doubled to center field and Clint Rose (Watertown, WI/Watertown) singled to put runners on the corners. Dan Douglas (East Troy, WI/East Troy) then drew a walk, loading the bases for Schilter.
The UWSP catcher came through with a bases-clearing triple to give the Pointers their first lead of the game at 8-6. Gerber's RBI single to score Schilter capped off the six-run outburst.
Rose hit an RBI single in the seventh inning to increase the UWSP lead to 10-6.
A couple of defensive miscues allowed the Titans to score two runs in the eighth inning, but Jacob Herbst (Park Falls, WI/Park Falls) shut the door on Oshkosh by throwing 1.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
The Pointers will play UW-La Crosse tonight at 7 p.m. The Eagles beat UW-Whitewater earlier today, 6-0.
