Pointers Volleyball Takes Two at Lawrence University

APPLETON Wis. - The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team won both of its matches at Lawrence University Tuesday evening and improved to 8-2 on the season.

The Pointers defeated Lawrence University by scores of 25-23, 25-15, 25-11 in their first match of the evening. Sarah Wildish (Menomonee Falls, WI/Menomonee Falls) led the Pointers with 10 kills and 18 digs while Alexis Hartman (Lake Zurich, IL/Lake Zurich) recorded a team-high 26 assists. Hannah Picel (West Bend, WI/West Bend West) and Cassidy Kohlhagen (Racine, WI/Union Grove) chipped in with 12 and 11 digs, respectively.

Kati Rau (Dorchester, WI/Colby) added nine kills and led the Pointers with a .615 attack percentage.

The Pointers downed St. Norbert College in thrilling fashion in the nightcap by scores of 25-16, 21-25, 25-20, 26-24.

Hartman tallied 37 assists while four different Pointers finished with at least 12 digs. Christina Brinkman (Bristol, WI/Westosha Central) and Kohlhagen each recorded 12 as Picel and Wildish finished with 13 and 19 digs, respectively.

Wildish and Allison David led UWSP with nine kills apiece. Brinkman and Morgan Bartkowiak (Slinger, WI/Slinger) each added eight.

The Pointers return to action when they face Waldorf and UW-Whitewater this Friday, Sept. 14 at the UW-River Falls invitational.
