(CBS Sports) With Clay Matthews about to enter the final year of his rookie deal, it seemed rather unlikely that the Packers would let their star linebacker anywhere near the free agent market.

And they haven't, as Matthews himself sent out a tweet photo of himself signing a contract extension.

According to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer, it's a five-year deal worth "a bit north" of $13 million per season.

Matthews is coming off a season in which he recorded 13 sacks and 43 tackles in 12 games. He was scheduled to a make a base salary of $3.73 million for 2013.
