It's that time of year. Next week we'll unveil the 50th Annual NewsChannel 7 Basketball All-Stars.

But Tuesday we handed out our first piece of hardware to a long overdue recipient.

For the first time ever, Newman head coach Tom Weinkauf is the NewsChannel 7 Girls Coach of the Year. Hard to believe for a guy with three boys and two girls state championships on his resume.

This year has been one for the ages as well.

Just one loss on the year and Newman is headed to Madison once again. Weinkauf also got win number 500 this season. And now he can add NewChannel 7 Coach of the Year to his credit.

Next Monday, March 28, we'll announce the recipient of this year's NewsChannel 7 Boys Coach of the Year.

Then it's the All-Stars' turn. On Tuesday, March 29 we'll announce the Girls All-Stars, with the boys to follow on Wednesday, March 30.
