INDIANOLA, Iowa – The UW-Stevens Point women's basketball teams' late game charge was not enough as it fell to host Simpson College Saturday night in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament, 88-84.

Simpson controled most of the first-half action and took a 46-34 lead into the break. Storm capitalized on 12 Pointer fouls in the first half by shooting 19-for-20 from the charity stripe.

The Storm continued to pull away in the start of the second half, building a lead of as many as 16.

The Pointers began chipping away at Simpson's lead, pulling to within two as Liz Althoff (Darien, WI/Clinton) knocked down a 3-pointer with 1:45 on the clock.

UWSP's late-game surge came up short as Simpson continued to knock down crucial free throws down the stretch.

Sam Barber (Schofield, WI/D.C. Everest/Winona St.) led all scorers in the game with 24 points, including six three-pointers.

Althoff and Brooke Allen (Barneveld, WI/Barneveld) also reached double-digits for the Pointers posting 21 and 11 points, respectively.
