Rapids-West used to be the red letter date on the wrestling calendar every season. Now a new rivalry is brewing between West and Merrill.
The Blue Jays are ranked 2nd in the state, the Warriors third and they're neck and neck in the Calley race, both 5-0.
But the question of who's the best will be answered tomorrow night when they face off in Merrill. West hopes to fall back on their experience in big matches.
The Blue Jays beat West in their dual meet last year, but the Warriors returned the favor by knocking the Blue Jays off at regionals.
Because they're in the same region, only one will be eligible to go to state. Thursday's match will give the Jays a sneak peak not only into regionals, but this weekend's Valley Conference meet as well.
