Marquette Reports Potential Men's Hoops Violation

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Marquette has reported a possible rules violation involving the men's basketball program to the NCAA.
The school did not disclose the nature of the violation.
In a statement issued Thursday, athletic director Larry Williams says the school takes potential violations seriously and "followed established protocols and reported the matter directly to the NCAA" once the potential violation was discovered.
Williams says the school is conducting a joint review with the NCAA and has no further comment for now.
Marquette coach Buzz Williams is 96-45 in four years, including 46-26 in Big East play. The Golden Eagles have advanced to the NCAA tournament in all four seasons since Williams took over for Tom Crean, advancing to the regional semifinals two straight years.
