Austen Lane was released by the Jaguars after 3 seasons.

The Jacksonville Jaguars released Iola native Austen Lane on Thursday.

Lane was a 5th round draft pick by the Jags in 2010. Injuries have plagued him in his short career. He played in just 11 games in the 2010 and 2012 seasons, and only 6 games in 2011.

The Iola-Scandinavia graduate has 3 career sacks, 2 coming in 2012, 66 total tackles and one forced fumble. He became expendable with the emergence of second-year player Andre Branch and the move of defensive tackle Tyson Alualu to end.

General manager Dave Caldwell said Lane wasn't a good fit for the team's new defense, adding that he wanted to give Lane a chance to catch on elsewhere.
