WAUSAU—July 31, 2013—The Wisconsin Woodchucks were defeated by the Duluth Huskies 15-6 after the Huskies scored eight runs in the second inning and never looked back.

The Huskies scored early and often in this contest as they used six hits in the top of the sixth inning to take an early 8-0 lead. The inning was highlighted by Keith Curcio’s second hit of the inning as it traveled into the bullpen in right field at Athletic Park for a two-run home run.

The Huskies will build onto their lead in the top of the sixth inning when Kyle Teaf came into score from a wild pitch. Later in the inning Conor Szczerba came into score when Curcio drove in another runner with a single to left field to give the Huskies a 10-0 lead.

The Huskies would extend their lead to 15-0 after they scored five run in the top of the seventh inning.

The Woodchucks finally scored in the bottom of the seventh inning as they plated five runs. Austin Diemer’s three-run no doubt home run highlighted the inning to trail 15-5.

The Woodchucks got another one of those runs back as Mikole Pierce hit his second home run in as many games over the left-center field wall. That would be all either teams would score as it would be the final in the contest.

The Woodchucks and the Huskies will finish their two-game series tomorrow night at Athletic Park. First pitch is set for 6:35 with gates opening at 5:35.
