Step into the weight room at Phillips and it doesn't scream warm and fuzzy. But these chain linked walls house a tight knit family within the Loggers community.

"Everything's pretty individual with powerlifting, but its a big family,"said Drew Biel. "We all help each other out, we all pump each other up. Being a family does so much for us."

A family of both the athletically inclined, and even those less fortunate.

"My friend Kayla, she went to Special Olympics," Biel said.

"That's pretty special to my heart, she was a state champion this year," coach Jeff Schillinger said about Kayla.

Biel, a junior, is headed to the ultimate competition. The Sub-Junior World Powerlifting Championships, more than 4600 miles away in Szczyrk, Poland.

"She's given up basically her whole summer. She didn't really have a chance to be a kid. She trained all summer long," said Schillinger.

Beil is one of just nine girls in the country selected to this year's Team USA. But she's not the first from phillips to receive the honor. The Loggers have had five world champions.

"It gives you a lot of goals. You want to step up there and be up there with them," on the wall with the banners, said Beil.

Due to financial constraints, Beil will travel across the pond without her immediate powerlifting family. But her Team USA coach has a special connection with the Loggers.

"The guy that's the head coach is my best friend," said Schillinger. "I know that coach Joe will take the best care of Drew and do everything that i would do to make sure she gets that gold medal."

Leaving family both near and far...to support Beil as she takes on the world.
