Barber shoots Pointers past Eagles, 67-47

The visiting Eagles jumped out to an early 5-0 lead but the Pointers came storming back to take a seven-point lead, 14-7, midway through the game's opening half.

La Crosse again battled back, knotting the score at 18-18 with just over six minutes remaining in the first stanza, but the Pointers pushed back, taking a seven-point edge, 30-23, into the break.

In the second half, the Eagles cut the UWSP lead to one, 34-33, with 15:28 remaining, but the Pointers fought their way to a double-digit lead with just over four minutes remaining, closing out the game on a 33-14 run to cruise to the victory.

Barber finished the day a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line and 8-for-19 from the floor. She added a team-high seven rebounds, four assists, four steals, and four blocks to her 25-point performance. Myranda Tyler (Grafton, WI/Grafton) was the only other Pointer who finished with double figures, scoring 15 points. Ten of the 12 Pointers who saw action in the contest scored.

Van Dusseldorp led the Eagles with 15 points and Maggi Bishop had a team-high nine rebounds.

UW-Stevens Point (13-3, 5-2 WIAC) returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 16 with a road contest against the Pioneers of UW-Platteville. Action on Bo Ryan Court in Platteville is scheduled for 7 p.m.
