GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- In recent years, the Number Three quarterback has been a wasted spot on the Packers' 53-man roster.
Last season, Number Three quarterback Ingle Martin didn't throw a pass all season.
After cutting Martin on Friday, the Packers are down to three quarterbacks - Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers and Paul Thompson - in camp.
The final decision hasn't been made yet - but Favre and Rodgers are expected to be the only quarterbacks on the roster when final cuts are made.
Packers coach Mike McCarthy says he's never been a part of a team that only kept two quarterbacks on the active roster, but he acknowledges it could happen this season.
Receiver Carlyle Holiday says he could play quarterback if the need arises.
That was his position at Notre Dame.
