GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Packers coach Mike McCarthy says starting running back Vernand Morency will be sidelined for the team's preseason game against Jacksonville tomorrow night, but he's sure Morency will be ready for the regular season opener.
Morency hurt his knee in the Packers' first practice of training camp and hasn't practiced or played since then.
McCarthy says that while Morency is making progress, he won't be able to play against the Jaguars.
He says Morency might make it back in time to play in the Packers' final preseason game at Tennessee next Thursday.
If not, he'll be ready for the September 9 opener against Philadelphia.
In Morency's absence, second-round rookie Brandon Jackson has taken the majority of snaps with the Packers' first-string offense.
