MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The St. Louis Cardinals stayed red-hot against the Milwaukee Brewers last night, with the help of newly acquired starter Joel Pineiro.
He was acquired in a trade with Boston two weeks ago and now has his second victory as a Cardinal after beating the Brewers 8-3 at Miller Park.
Pineiro went seven innings, giving up two runs and five hits.
Albert Pujols hit his 275th career home run, Jim Edmonds also homered and Scott Rolen had four hits for St. Louis.
The Cardinals pounded Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo for nine hits and seven runs in just under six innings.
That included homers by Pujols and Rolen in the first inning.
