GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Brett Favre is poised to break at least one of Dan Marino's prestigious records this season.

But Favre told ESPN in an interview that it wouldn't mean much if he throws for seven more touchdowns to pass the former Dolphins quarterback's mark of 420.

Favre says he thinks Marino is one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play.

In Favre's words - "I've never considered myself as good or better than him and never will."

Favre is returning for his 16th season with the Packers and 17th season in the league.

He says he's fortunate he hasn't been forced into retirement because of injury or a change in the Packers philosophy.

He also says he's avoided a major drop off in his skills and still believes he can play at a high level.
