MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Jesper Parnevik says golfing great Gary Player was mistaken in claiming this week some golfers use steroids to enhance their performance.
Parnevik says he doesn't know of anyone who uses them, and he doesn't think they would help golfers because they would make them muscle-bound.
But Player commented on the eve of the British Open that he knew at least one golfer used steroids and guessed that as many as 10 worldwide might use them.
The former British Open champion urged golf's ruling bodies to speed up work on a proposed anti-drug plan and start random testing.
Parnevik is playing in the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee for the first time in 11 years.
He shot 4-under par 66 in the first round today.
