MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Reports that Chinese officials are reluctant to allow 6'11" Yi Jianlian to sign with the Milwaukee Bucks have left the NBA team as confused as ever over its top draft pick.
The team says it's seen confusing reports on what was said, and it's trying to get more information about what was reported.
In China, Guangdong Tigers owner Chen Haitao was quoted as saying that Yi, who plays for his team and was the sixth pick in the NBA draft, would "definitely not" play for the Bucks this coming season.
He later told reporters the likely lack of playing time as an NBA rookie is a primary reason.
When China is host to the 2008 Olympic Games, Yi and Houston Rockets center Yao Ming are expected to play on the Chinese team.
Chen says the national team and the Olympics are the key considerations.
