I for one, was hoping that Danica Patrick would win the Indy 500. One, it would be a pretty cool story. Two, it would justify all the attention she gets.
There's no denying she's very, very pretty and a lady driving in a male-dominated sport. But unless she wants to be tagged with the Anna Kournikova label--you know--cover girl, endorsement hound who never wins anything, she needs to do something soon.
Fortunately for Danica, she's only 25. Wait a minute, Kournikova is 25 right now and where is she?
While such stars like Tony Kanaan (who looks like actor Vin Diesel), Helio Castroneves, and Indy winner Dario Franchiti continue to win and dominate the sport, they're overshadowed and hounded with questions at every venue about Danica Patrick.
As long as she's selling tickets and magazines and such, the sponsors will be there. But how long will a company continue to sponsor someone who cant win?
Just maybe, that first win will come next week in Milwaukee.
