Favre Shows Up to Minicamp, Denies Trade Reports

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Brett Favre says he didn't really want to show up for the Green Bay Packers' mandatory minicamp because, truth be told, he's been through them before and thinks they're kind of boring.

But Favre says today that he decided to show up for the team's three-day practice sessions because he wanted to show loyalty to his teammates.

He says he also wanted to clear the air on reports that he requested a trade shortly after the team failed to land wide receiver Randy Moss in a trade last month.

Favre said earlier this week that he never demanded a trade, but seemed to leave himself some wiggle room by not addressing the issue of whether his agent ever asked the team about a trade.

Favre issued a stronger denial today, saying a trade was never mentioned or requested.

Favre says he has talked to Packers general manager Ted Thompson and coach Mike McCarthy this week.

And while he might still have his differences with the decisions the Packers' front office makes, he says it won't affect his play this season.

The Packers start practice at 3 p.m. today, and it's still not clear how much Favre will participate in practice.

Favre is still recovering from offseason ankle surgery.
