Brewers, Suppan beat Cardinals

Jeff Suppan went the distance for the Milwaukee Brewers in a 7-to-1 victory over his former team, the St. Louis Cardinals, at Miller Park tonight.

Suppan gave up just eight hits in pitching the complete game.

It was the first game for the Cardinals since the traffic death of Josh Hancock over the weekend ... and they struggled at the plate and in the field.

Kip Wells balked in a run in the second inning and gave up seven runs in six innings to take the loss.

Adam Kennedy was thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double in the fourth, and shortstop David Eckstein was left holding the ball with nowhere to throw as a second run crossed the plate after a triple by Milwaukee's Kevin Mench in the sixth.
