MENOMONIE, Wis. (AP) -- Dunn County District Attorney James Peterson says he believes the drug cases involving two former University of Wisconsin-Stout football players will be resolved without having to go to trial.

He said yesterday during appearances in Circuit Court that there are ongoing negotiations in the cases involving Luke Steffen and Nicholas OrRico, both 22 and of Menomonie.

Steffen is charged with felony maintaining a drug trafficking place and three misdemeanor counts for possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

OrRico faces a felony charge of manufacture or delivering marijuana, felony possession with intent to deliver marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both are scheduled to enter a plea June 12.
