After fighting back to even the game up at a game apiece, McDonell Central won both the third and fourth game to end the Cardinals season.

Newman was led once again by the Schuster twins, as each recorded double-digit kills with Andrea tallying 14 and Emily earning 10.

Despite the loss, Newman did earn the school's first State volleyball hardware after advancing to the championship game by beating Highland in the semifinals.
