AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) -- Jerry Kelly of Madison posted his best finish ever in a major golf tournament in the Masters during the weekend.
The 40-year-old shot a final-round 70 yesterday and finished in a tie for fifth place with Justin Rose at four-over-par 292.
That was three strokes behind winner Zach Johnson in the competition at Augusta, Georgia.
He previously had just two top-25 finishes in 27 major tournaments, although he'd won more than $14 million in his career, finishing among the top 40 money winners five times in 11 years on the PGA Tour.
Kelly's previous best result in a major was a tie for 20th in both the 2002 and 2005 Masters.
He's never had a top-25 finish in the U.S. Open, PGA Championship or British Open.
