MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Plans for financing a new ballpark in Nashville have fallen through for the Milwaukee Brewers.

The club signed a four-year extension of their player development contract with the Sounds last year, providing that a new ballpark would be built to replace the aging Greer Stadium.

The city council in Nashville voted against granting an extension to the Sounds and their developers to reach agreement on financing for the ballpark.

Brewers assistant general manager Gord Ash says they've notified the Sounds and Pacific Coast League that they need to reach agreement soon, or the current stadium will have to be improved.
