For the second time in four years, D.C. Everest head baseball coach Mark Simon is stepping down from the position due to health reasons.
Simon resigned in 2004 because of back problems, and had undergone chemotherapy this past off-season for throat cancer.
All told, he's led the Evergreen baseball program for 38 years, including a state title appearance in 2004 - the same year he was named the Wisconsin State Baseball Coach of the Year.
Simon was unavailable for comment.
Just recently, the legend was inducted into the 2007 Central Wisconsin Baseball Hall of Fame.
Long-time assistant Tim Nyenhuis will take over.
