PHOENIX (AP) -- Rookie third baseman Ryan Braun hit his fifth home run of spring training for the Milwaukee Brewers, tying him for the Cactus League lead, but he's been sent back to the minors anyway.

He got the news after the Chicago Cubs split squad beat the Brewers 11-7 yesterday in Phoenix.

While Braun homered in the game, he also committed his fourth throwing error of spring training.

He got two homers in the first game of the spring, but in each game where he homered, he also had an error.

Manager Ned Yost says Braun needs more work to polish his defense, so he'll probably start the season getting lots of playing time with Triple-A Nashville.

The Brewers also got a two-run homer from Bill Hall yesterday.

In other moves, the Brewers returned pitchers Yovani Gallardo and Luther Hackman and catcher Nestor Corredor to the minor league camp.

The Brewers optioned outfielder Drew Anderson and pitcher Dennis Sarfate to Triple-A Nashville, and second baseman Hernan Iribarren to Double-A Huntsville.
