MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- New London got 17 points from Michelle Handschke and unleashed a suffocating defense in the second half en route to a 43-27 victory over Neillsville in today's Division Two semifinals of the WIAA Girls Basketball Tournament in Madison.

The Bulldogs (24-2) held Neillsville (22-3) to only three points in the second quarter and led 19-14 at halftime.

The Warriors closed to 23-22 with 3:01 left in the third quarter on a putback by Mallori Sydorowicz.

But they scored only five more points -- three the entire fourth quarter.
