PHOENIX (AP) -- The Milwaukee Brewers have signed a slew of prospects to one-year deals and renewed first baseman Prince Fielder for another year as well.
Starting shortstop J.J. Hardy received a new one-year deal, as did projected starting leftfielder Corey Hart.
Also signed to one-year contracts were catcher J.D. Closser, outfielder Gabe Gross and outfield Tony Gwynn.
Fielder said earlier today that he wasn't involved at all with the contract negotiations.
Teams typically do not like to renew contracts, but have that option if the players haven't earned enough Major League service time to apply for salary arbitration or free agency.
