MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Mikayla Hogan scored six goals for Chippewa Falls McDonell as it easily beat Northland Pines 9-to-3 today in the semifinals of the state high school girls hockey tournament at Madison.
With the teams tied 1-1 after one period, she scored three times in the second as McDonell moved ahead 4-1 to take the lead for good.
It improved its record to 17-2-1.
Jaime Athens scored twice for Northland Pines, which fell to 17-6.
Goalie Kiara McChesney had 19 saves for McDonell, while Rene Placek had 28 and Autumn Nielsen 1 for Northland Pines.
McDonell advance to the championship game tomorrow against the winner of the game between Onalaska and the Appleton West Co-op later today.
