PHOENIX (AP) -- Talk about starting out with a bang.
The Milwaukee Brewers' top draft pick from 2005 belted a grand slam and a three-run homer when the Brewers opened the exhibition season in Phoenix by beating Oakland 14-8.
That's seven runs batted in for 23-year-old Ryan Braun, who could wind up playing third base while Corey Koskie continues his recovery from post-concussion syndrome.
Braun made a wild throw in the fifth inning yesterday and was charged with an error that allowed Oakland to score.
But he more than made up for it with his bat.
Vinny Rottino also homered for the Brewers, a solo shot in the eighth.
Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder had to miss the game because of muscle tightness.
He's expected to be held out of today's game, too.
