OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) -- Hopeful sturgeon spearers may have a bit more time to get to Lake Winnebago.

The Department of Natural Resources says this weekend's harvest of 78 fish was fairly modest.

So the season will go well into this coming week and possibly last the full 16 days.

DNR Sturgeon Biologist Ron Bruch says water wasn't too clear in some spots of the lake this weekend, so that's why people speared fewer fish.

Bruch says the warmer weather expected this week might make for more active fish.

The harvest on Sunday at Lake Winnebago included 50 female sturgeon and 28 males.

So far this season, more than 1100 sturgeon have been registered.

The season began on February 10.
